A Letter to a NPC..
Why do you refuse to own up to your actions and avoid responsibility?
It is disappointing that you have displayed no growth at all. In previous interactions you have claimed and pretended to understand these concepts but clearly you have not as it is lacking in practice.
This is epitome of the victim culture rife in our era and with the woke left/BLM etc..
You complain about pressure because they want any easy way to life.
You look for personal issues with others who point out irregularities and trying to help you.
You malign and go on spreading false information to gain social points.
You seek unnecessary, time sucking and unwanted conflicts.
You blame someone or something else for not stepping up.
You make excuses for what has or hasn’t happened.
You never own up to anything even when forced to admit, you coyly do it without taking charge of the situation.
You often say something along the lines of, “it’s not my fault.”
You bring up past issues unrelated to the topic at hand in order to paint a narrative.
You hold petty grievances.
It appears that your default strategy is a combination of what Leon F Seltzer’s article Evolution of the Self highlights,
“Rather, they’re likely to archly defend themselves, project their blame back onto you, search for something—anything—to attack you for, or refuse to discuss the matter altogether. The words “defend, divert, deny, and disengage” pretty much sum up their resistant behavioral repertoire when they’re found fault with.”
If you recognize this, consider a reassessment of yourself.
This character flaws are in surplus everywhere you look today. With a generation besieged with ADHD, short attention spans and device addictions, it is cultivating NPC’s and weaklings who cannot withstand pressure or hardship of any kind.
In the age of narcissism on steroids and the obsession with the self it is likely you are addicted to the dopamine hit your devices give you and your outward appearance.
Do my Nigerian readers or African readers recognize this? I know you do. It is almost the norm back home.
Surprised why culture has yet to improve or develop?
Why does the African/black mindset seems to be stuck in this loop of short term thinking?
My assumptions are to suggest that it is closely linked to scarcity mindset.
I have written about this concept before:
Not sounding like a guidance counsellor, the ways you can improve is by:
Looking for solutions
Changing your mindset
Changing your friend group
Viewing everything as a learning opportunity
Pondering what is making you feel bad/emotional
The ultimate challenge I recognize to conquer is the institutions and environment you exist in, all the more reason you need to be courageous and swim against the tide. Trust me, you will be stronger for it.
I heard something similar while listening to a podcast yesterday, the guest compared the snowflakes we have in society who are so fragile that they need government to protect them to muscles in the body. If you want to look better you literally have to abuse, strain and weaken your muscles for them to be stronger by going to the gym or working out. The same applies to life, we have go through pressure, stress and uncomfortable situations to have a strong mind.
This weak culture is mostly responsible for the asinine idea of safe spaces and cancel culture cos you are uncomfortable with things that don’t make you feel good.
This is a slow road to totalitarianism and a communist society with no freedom.
What doesn’t kill you, what puts pressure on you, what is tasking you and abusive words or names only makes you resilient and stronger.
Grow a thick skin and get comfortable withstanding criticism without getting emotional.
My dear NPC’s, Life is fully of pressures and real, good life comes with pain and struggle!
I know for those on the ladder of growth, it’s a shocker that we have to say it but it is what the majority needs to comprehend.
We are in deficit of strong and capable men if we plan on fighting this corrupt, totalitarian beast.
Resist the urge to settle for comfort.
Rest is assured when victory is declared over the system but the work begins with you.
You got this!
See you next week!
