Diversity means Conformity
This is so true!
Morrissey: “Now they talk all about we must have diversity, diversity ,diversity. It’s just another word for conformity. Diversity? You don't see anything diverse anyway. It’s all conformity.”
The question is, are your thoughts your own?
Can we see beyond the empty rhetoric and spot the glaring discrepancies between the word ‘diversity’ and actual reality?
From Winston Smith via Escaping mass psychosis,
Orwell wrote at length about the importance of language shaping thought. The ease to which altering language alters thoughts and perspectives - the language and the ‘grasp’ is intimately entwined. We are in an age now where we have to continually clarify what someone is saying - “What do you mean when you say that?” Because the words are becoming divorced from what we have known as reality. ‘Science’ becomes a government’s supposition or a mandate, ‘safety’ becomes obedience, ‘change’ becomes catastrophe, ‘carbon’ becomes abhorrent, ‘suicide’ becomes the right thing to do.
To follow the rabbit hole on neuroscience and language shaping thoughts, would be best to pick up, Dr. Iain McGilchrist, (2021). The matter with things: Our brains, our delusions, and the unmaking of the world. London: Perspectiva Press.
Or read a shorter article in the Scientific American magazine on ‘How Language Shapes Thought.’
What researchers have been calling “thinking” this whole time actually appears to be a collection of both linguistic and nonlinguistic processes. As a result, there may not be a lot of adult human thinking where language does not play a role.
The languages we speak affect our perceptions of the world.
See you tomorrow!
