My crystal ball for the future..
Nobody knows the future says a friend who alluded to the geopolitical analysis and financial positions I often advocate for.
This is true as no one is certain about the future but we can use history as a guide to acquire wisdom and knowledge, we can attain the right education (not all education is good, I have to point out), then take advantage of the indicators, patterns and trends that point to probabilities that could happen in the future.
Using the information and probabilities we have available to us, we can prepare and adjust for numerous scenarios.
The future is uncertain including the present to be honest. To an extent, my life is uncertain at the moment. I could trip and die, I could fall sick…there are so many uncertainties that can happen to anyone on any given day.
But how do we beat uncertainty? We do this with optionality. The more options I have, the better I will be and the better I am prepared to face any unlikely event.
To the broader point though, I could push back a little and suggest;
It is possible to see the future!
How so?
For example; if I eat ice cream and cake 5 meals a day everyday of the week, what does my future hold for me? That future is one of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, etc.
So in a way you could predict your future through trends and patterns of behavior. It is highly likely for that person to person to die and/or suffer from a terrible life threatening illness.
Another example; If the US continues to fund terrorists all around the world, what do you think is likely to happen in the future? Do you think the terrorists are going to have a change of heart and become sympathetic leaders at some point? or If the government of country A implements bad policies, print excess money, abdicate their duties, engage in rampant corruption, build poor infrastructure, renege on promises made, etc how does one think the country/citizens of country A future will look like? In turn, if the citizens of the same country A elects untrustworthy people, where majority are morally bankrupt, only partake in shallow entertainment, etc should the citizens expect a different or positive outcome/governance? and would the country be a place for future generations?
Actions have consequences. You reap what you sow. Simple as!
We all can work towards the future, we can spot patterns that point us the direction whether good or bad and we can all see the future if we put our minds and back in it. It is our responsibility to work towards shaping a better future/outcome for future generations.
The lesson I am taking here is for me to work towards employing and imbibing good, positive behaviors in my everyday life. The simplest things we do everyday amount to our overall character and future outcome.
So patterns and trends matter…Yes, I can see my future!!
How are you building your future?
See you next week!
