Spiders (world wide) Web
The internet is known as the world wide web. It was named so because of its tangled and interlaced structure, said to resemble that of a spider web.
Many spiders build their webs specifically to trap and catch insects to eat. However, not all spiders catch their prey in webs. It is fascinating reading about how analogous it is to what we refer to as the internet or world wide web. Like its silky material used to make the webs and its sticky capture ability.
Isn’t it interesting that we are trapped in a web of our own narcissism? A web of our creation that sucks our potential with no real connection.
A web of escape. A web of continuous dopamine highs that each like, each retweet, each comment plays to our validation as social beings. So we continue, we cannot get enough of it. We are trapped and stuck in this never ending loop of shit.
It amplifies the worst of us and the worst in us; empty rhetoric, virtue signaling are its modus operandi. Excusing many from taking action in the real world but encouraging pointless engagement in the name of “community”.
Similar to pornography, it feels good in the short term but detrimental in the long term and pointless overall. Putting the Ukrainian colors in Twitter handles, or whatever else - “stand with Ukraine” (usually symbolic) displays, meant to “support” the noble rebels of “Kyiv,” gives us a rush of power. Making us feel that we have done something good with our time on earth. Have we made an impact? Keep on and Carry on, as we are changing the “world” (sarcasm alert). All symbolic!
The internet and its applications seem to encourage Marxist theory of social justice, where everyone gets to speak “their truth” through their personal devices. The term “social justice” has come to replace legal justice, just like social media has replaced broadcast mainstream media.
Now everyone is a self appointed judge, jury, and executioner. Everyone is on the jury that convicts Putin of war crimes or calls out one person for moral failure. Online lynching, witch hunting, cancel culture, doxing and piling on is now a form of social justice with its adherents fully embracing its dogma despite the shifting rules for the same mob to also come for them
According to Curtis Yarvin;
The key to ceasing this awful, destructive behavior is understanding that it is not about them. It is about you.
Your “support” for the Kiev regime is about one thing: love. It is about your love for yourself. Its pathological nature reveals a deeper truth: an unfilled need for love and purpose, for a public and collective life which is not a pornographic charnel-house. It is sad, not just in what it does to the Ukraine, but in what it does to you, me, we, us.
We seem to fallen prey to the web of deceit, web of lies, web of false information, web of narcissism, web of sexual/ war/virtue signaling pornography, web of escapism that eats at our ultimate potential.
What a sticky web that the internet emanates!
See you tomorrow!
