I watched that series, not really thinking much of whether it could be the future, but since convid, I'm sure it is all part of the predictive programming.

Yes, agreed on the predictive programming, but a genuine question pops up about who funds the cultural imagination of the future and why. The interesting thing about Humans specifically is that Channel 4 is state-adjacent British broadcasting. The show aired right as the gig economy was being normalized (2015), right as the "future of work" language was being mainstreamed. Coincidence is always possible. Pattern is worth noting.

The architecture was already visible before 2020. The offshoring sequence, the BPO workers, that sequencing started in the 90s. COVID accelerated the timeline and removed the pretense.

The question that stays with me: what was it programming us to accept: normalizing our own redundancy, or the idea that resistance is futile?
